This lecture includes introduction to organometallic chemistry, what an organometallic compound is, and what organometallic chemistry is. It includes some examples of organometallic compounds and then also explains why metal carbides and metal cyanides are not included in organometallic compounds.
The course then includes the type of organometallic compounds based on the interaction of the metal with the carbon atom in which these compounds are classified as
1. Ionic organometallic compound
2. covalent organometallic compound
3. electron-deficient organometallic compound 4. organometallic compounds of transition metals

Next, this lecture includes an introduction to the concept of hapticity, how ligands can be classified into organometallic compounds based on their concept of hapticity and also includes various examples of compounds showing different hepticity.
