During nesting season, Coastal Carolina University students are part of the group that patrols the beaches of Waties Island each morning looking for new nests. Part of Waties Island belongs to the CCU.
Coastal Carolina University is a vibrant public liberal arts institution located in Conway, minutes from the resort town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The university offers 74 areas of study leading to the bachelor's degree and 18 master's degree programs, as well as two education specialization degrees. . The University began offering its first doctoral program – the Ph.D. in marine sciences: coastal and marine systems science – in fall 2014.
