GitHub Social Impact, Tech for Social Good hosted the side event “Centering Women's Equity in Digital Technology/” for the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 67). Five esteemed panelists – Fereshteh Forough, Tarunima Prabhakar, Ifunanya Ikemma, Hera Hussain and Stephanie Coker – spoke about their work in Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, the UK and the US, as well as their technology solutions for three challenges that people identified as women and girls disproportionately face globally: access to technology skills, online harassment and bullying, and gender-based violence. Shelley McKinley, vice president of Microsoft and general counsel of GitHub, delivered the keynote address on how artificial intelligence (AI) tools and models can advance equity for women.
