Edge Computing is a term used to describe a decentralized computing infrastructure. In an edge computing environment, applications, calculations, and data storage are all performed close to the data source (i.e., at the “network edge”), as opposed to in the cloud or in an off-site data center. By processing data locally and minimizing the distance between devices and servers, edge computing provides improved performance, requires less bandwidth and reduces latency.
