Bangladesh has recently seen some of the worst violence in decades – violence sparked by student protests against a government employment quota system that protesters say favored supporters of the Awami League, the ruling party. .

The country's Supreme Court has now removed this quota. Yet with dozens of deaths and hundreds of arrests, serious questions remain about the government's handling of the crisis, with students demanding significant change in a country where they believe democratic values are in danger.
