Manufacturing is an integral part of the economy and plays a critical role in accelerating progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With the rapid development of information technology and the continuous deepening of the digital transformation process, AI is gradually applied to the entire manufacturing life cycle: AI in supply chain management procurement, AI and the smart factory, and AI in product lifecycle management. This trend is expected to accelerate.

In collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), ITU is launching the AI for Manufacturing series. A launch event on September 7, 2022 will set the stage for a series of expert conferences over the following months that will bring together leading voices from academia, industry and policy to discuss the latest advances in technology. AI applied to manufacturing, leveraging a variety of techniques such as modeling and simulation, digital twin, blockchain, 5G and edge computing.

We have less than 10 years left to achieve the UN SDGs and AI holds great promise for advancing many Sustainable Development Goals and targets.
More than a summit, more than a movement, AI for Good presents itself as a year-round digital platform where AI innovators and problem owners learn, build and connect to help identify practical solutions in AI to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
