Can art be a form of therapy? Could art really be equivalent to painkillers commonly used in the medical industry? Surprisingly, the answer is yes. Carol Hammal amazes us by how a twist of fate changed her life and introduced her to art therapy. After studying art therapy in the United States, she decided to return home and share what she had learned with the community. His own community. Just as her life was changed forever, she hoped she could do the same with ours. Here it is, clarifying how art has the power to improve our physical and mental well-being. This conference aims to create the first graduate program in art therapy. She also highlights the therapeutic journey of one of her patients. This conference raises awareness of the emergence of this exceptional phenomenon. Pain and suffering do indeed vary; coming from all kinds. Maybe art could be the cure? Let's find out !

Carol Hammal, art psychotherapist, musician and visual artist, graduated from the American University in Cairo 2007 with a BA (Hon's) in Art. She then pursued a master's degree in art therapy at the Hahnemann Program at Drexel University in Philadelphia in 2009. She returned to Egypt after completing her master's coursework in 2011. Hammal is a member of the American Art Therapy Association and she attends its annual conference in the United States, while lecturing on clinical advances in art therapy in Egypt. She joined Serenity Psychology Center in Maadi and is currently an art therapy consultant at Egypt's renowned Behman Hospital, working closely within its impatient addiction unit.
