1. Report any existing medical conditions (EMC) you have when purchasing a travel insurance policy to ensure your medical expenses can be covered.

3. U.S. airports can be large and confusing for first-time visitors, so allow yourself as much time as possible when planning layovers to avoid missing your connecting flights.

4. Planning fun activities like skiing, motorcycling, climbing or cruising? Check if you need to add additional coverage to your policy.

5. Always check the dates on your insurance policy before leaving. If something goes wrong outside of the dates listed on your policy, you probably won't be covered!
