One of the most intriguing topics in healthcare for 2024 is the use of artificial intelligence in patient care and the workplace. Two UC Davis Health experts recently met to discuss where the use of AI in healthcare is heading. CEO David Lubarsky and Chief AI Advisor Dennis Chornenky highlighted the latest trends in AI, the relationship between human and artificial intelligence, some of the challenges facing the use of AI AI in healthcare and how it can improve equity and outcomes.

David Lubarsky, MD, MBA, FASA, is vice chancellor for Human Health Sciences and CEO of UC Davis Health, located in Sacramento, California. UC Davis Health is an integrated health system with approximately 17,000 employees, 1,000 students, 1,000 trainees, 1,300 faculty members and an extensive regional primary care network, providing more than 1.5 million outpatient visits annually with an annual budget of $4.3 billion.

Dennis Chornenky is a former senior advisor and strategy consultant on artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies for the White House. In 2023, he was named chief AI advisor to UC Davis Health, where he is leading efforts to establish an AI strategy and governance framework that ensures UC Health System's approach Davis AI is safe and ethical. Additionally, it will ensure that all AI efforts meet new regulatory compliance standards.
