With over 600 pages and 370,000 words, the history of the JRPG is told with articles on the major companies specializing in the genre, influences on music and art, major series and styles of play. For each game or series, there are screenshots and cover art.
This Collector's Edition version was limited to 2,000 copies and is sold out. It includes a cover art poster, a Pixel Heart USB stick with JRPG-inspired game demos, and a Save Your Progress bookmark.
At the time of recording, the hardback edition was also out of print. This means that Bitmap Books is expecting a reprint scheduled for October 2021.
