Here are some recent undergraduate field research projects at Block Island with follow-up activities planned during the summer and fall of 2022 for environmental earth science majors Emma Bean, Olivia Gentile, and Hans Veltheim . Students accompanied supervisors (Drs. Bryan Oakley and Drew Hyatt) to several Block Island sites to capture ground and drone imagery of the shorelines in order to then construct 3D photogrammetric models of these study sites. This is part of a larger CSU-funded grant to Oakley and Hyatt that is using 3D models to examine the pattern of geological change along Block Island's coasts and to measure coastal change in response to large storms and change. EES students will conduct follow-up research during the 2022-23 academic year and present their results at research conferences in spring 2023.
