3 Ways to Improve Your Real Estate Investment Analysis (Advanced Tools) // Having spent nearly 10 years in real estate private equity working for (and with) some of the largest institutional real estate investment and brokerage firms in the United States, I can tell you from first-hand experience that these firms take their analysis very, very seriously, to a level that most individual or small investors simply don’t take the time to do.

And whether you are investing in deals for your own portfolio or purchasing real estate on behalf of equity partners, understanding the different ways a real estate acquisition could play out (and the impacts of those events on returns) is HUGE in ensuring you protect your downside risk and do your due diligence on the deals you invest your hard-earned money in.

And while a standard pro forma template is both useful and necessary for analyzing and evaluating commercial real estate transactions, there are a few additional tools that I like to add to an acquisition analysis and have learned to really value over my time in the industry.
